December 26, 2008

AT&T today released the BlackBerry Curve 8320, a smartphone with built-in Wi-Fi for access to thousands of AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots in the U.S. RIM BlackBerry Curve (8320) RIM BlackBerry Curve (8320) More Photos RIM BlackBerry Curve (8320) Photo 1 RIM BlackBerry Curve (8320) Photo 2 RIM BlackBerry Curve (8320) Photo 3 RIM BlackBerry Curve (8320) Specs View Specs The BlackBerry Curve 8320 combines email and messaging with a full QWERTY keyboard, built-in spell checker and organizer. A large 65K-color display (320 x 240 px) has light-sensing technology that automatically adjusts backlighting for optimal viewing. An improved user interface and support for HTML email allows users to download attachments and edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on the handset using the preloaded DataViz Documents To Go software suite.

It has an enhanced HTML browser that supports desktop-style web browsing. Its trackball acts like a computer mouse, letting users quickly scroll through a page, zoom in and out or click on hotlinks.

It also includes AT&T Music, integrated Push-to-Talk (PTT) and optional access to the AT&T Navigator.

The BlackBerry Curve 8320 has 802.11 b/g to automatically connect to any of the more than 17,000 AT&T hotspots, include Starbucks, Barnes & Noble and thousands more restaurants, airports, hotels and other convenient locations across the U.S.

Global Wi-Fi capabilities cover more than 150 countries and make or receive phone calls in more than 200 countries.

Other features include Bluetooth 2.0 technology, a 2.0-megapixel camera with zoom, flash and video recording, advanced media player with desktop media management software and expandable memory of up to 16GB via its microSD memory card slot.

"AT&T customers can also use their BlackBerry Curve smartphone to connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot both in the U.S. and abroad," said Michael Woodward, vice President of AT&T. "This allows our customers to be even more productive and get greater value out of their BlackBerry smartphone, particularly when they can connect free of charge to an AT&T Hot Spot in the U.S."

The BlackBerry Curve 8320 is available in sapphire blue starting at $149.99 with a two-year contract and mail-in rebate.
